How to Choose the Right Coco Peat Grade

EC levels, buffering and block sizes explained in simple language for growers.

Low EC or high EC

EC measures salt content. Growers of sensitive crops normally ask for washed coco peat below 0.5 mS/cm. Higher EC material is cheaper and works for landscaping or soil conditioning.

Buffered vs unbuffered

Buffered coco peat is treated with calcium nitrate so it stops holding on to calcium and magnesium from your feed. Choose buffered for hydroponics and unbuffered for general potting mixes.

Block, grow bag or loose

5 kg blocks ship densely and suit nurseries. Grow bags and slabs suit commercial greenhouses. Loose bales are easier for mixing plants.

Always test a sample

We share lab reports and courier samples before bulk orders so you can confirm EC, pH and fibre content against your own standard.
